With Love and Thanks

to Christine Champion for her courage in becoming my publishing partner in the daring enterprise, Wildfire Books. Also for opening her home and her hand to me during the last three months of the writing of this book. Her friendship is a constant blessing in my life;

to Susan Horwitz for co-conspiring with me, for coming up with the right ideas at the right times, and for turning her experience and skill to the actual publishing of this book. She works with me on the level of magic;

to Genevieve Vaughan for her understanding of gift giving. She has changed deeply and forever the way I perceive the world;

to Marlene Mountain, poet from Hampton, Tennessee, from whose deliciously unconventional brain Susan picked the word "She/Volution" for the subtitle. Also for the others of her lexic creations that liven up the text;

to Diana Souza for her dream-level communication with me that inspired a cover design as passionate and wild as my vision;

to my son Marc for his patience with my many frantic phone calls and for his expert guidance through the mazes of the WordPerfect word processing program;

to Adele Gorelick and Janet Mullaney for editing this book under wildly fluctuating publishing circumstances, and to Pat Bride and Lorna Gold Marchand for helping with the onerous job of proofreading;

to Susan Britt of the English Department at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque for the organizational insight that helped me write a completely different Part III;

and to Mary Daly, whose thinking cracked my conditioning open years ago and keeps it open, for her unwavering dedication to women. Also for her brilliant contributions to our language - concepts such as "biophilic", "fembot", and "patriarchal reversal" for instance - that are now integral to feminist discourse.
